Barclaycard promotes contactless payments with new advertising campaign

Barclaycard is launching a new advertising campaign to show how its customers’ lives will be made easier and more convenient with contactless payments from Barclaycard. The new quick and secure technology will make payments simpler for both consumers and retailers.

The new campaign focuses on one customer’s journey home, but with an unusual, imaginative twist. The actor commutes home easily via a huge water slide, twisting and turning hundreds of metres above an urban city landscape, encountering various incidents along the way, including effortlessly purchasing some bananas from the supermarket using his contactless enabled Barclaycard.

In 2007, Barclaycard launched the UK’s first contactless card and later this year, all newly issued Barclaycard Platinum cards will be able to make contactless payments. Barclaycard will have more than one million contactless enabled cards in the UK by the end of this year. Well known names such as Coffee Republic, EAT, the National Trust and Yo! Sushi have joined several thousand independent retailers in signing up to contactless in a drive to provide customers with a fast, simple and secure method of paying.

The campaign launches on Saturday 25 October, during the X Factor results programme on ITV1 and will feature 90, 60, and 30 second adverts. The TV activity is part of a wider media campaign which includes cinema, newspapers, online and special build posters.
